Blackle Zine #1
17 May 2025

This winter, Blackle sat down and played Anthology of the Killer, one of the greatest pieces of multimedia art of the decade. Among other things, it is about Zine artists, and it felt so inspired by the experience that it decided to make a Zine of its own. It ran out of steam roughly halfway through, and left it on the coffee table with the instruction that I could add to it if I wanted to.
After several months of it sitting there, I picked it up again. It was a late night, when I had just finished reading a book and wanted a little bit more to spend my energy on before I went to sleep. So I decided to fill in the missing pages. Blackle had written an index of what it wanted to be on the missing pages, so I took my pen and got to work.
It was a very fun exercise, and when it was complete I showed Blackle, who thought it was delightful. From there, I decided, hey, why not produce it! So I scanned it in, printed it back out twenty (20) times, and got to folding. Et voila, you can see the results above. The zines have gone on a number of little journeys since. Aside from delivering some to friends, Blackle distributed several of them at QCC, and we faxed one to /dev/hack. I've also submitted one to the Toronto Zine Library!
And this last most important step, is that I am now delivering it to you. Attached below you'll find the full-color scan of the hand-made zine, ready to be printed out and folded in Rek Bell's method.

Enjoy!
